Getting There:

From downtown Los Angeles, take US-101 North towards Ventura. For a scenic coastal route, you can also switch to CA-1 (Pacific Coast Highway).
Catch a Ferry with Island Packers:
Island Packers: This is the primary ferry service to Channel Islands National Park. They offer trips to all five islands, with schedules varying by season and destination. The ferry terminal is located at Ventura Harbor.
Boarding and Travel Time: The ferry ride from Ventura to the nearest islands (Anacapa and Santa Cruz) takes about one hour. Trips to the more distant islands (Santa Rosa, San Miguel, and Santa Barbara) can take up to three hours.

Scorpion Canyon Loop

Starting at Scorpion Anchorage, the main landing point for visitors, the Scorpion Canyon Loop takes you through a variety of landscapes. Begin your hike by heading towards Scorpion Canyon. The trail gradually ascends, offering sweeping views of the coastline and the Channel. As you make your way through the canyon, you'll pass through lush riparian habitats and open grasslands dotted with wildflowers, especially vibrant in the spring.
The trail then leads to Scorpion Overlook, where you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the island's rugged terrain and the vast Pacific Ocean. This is an excellent spot for a break and some photo opportunities. Continuing on, the trail loops back towards the starting point, descending through coastal sage scrub and chaparral.
