New Hampshire, Attitash

It's April, the weekend before Attitash closes for the season, and Mother Nature has gifted the mountain with a whopping 18 inches of fresh powder during the week. It's every snowboarder's dream come true!

In the heart of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Attitash Mountain Resort boasts an unparalleled setting for winter sports enthusiasts. With its prime location between the towns of Bartlett and Jackson, Attitash offers breathtaking views and thrilling terrain across its two peaks: Attitash and Bear Peak.

Spanning over 310 acres, Attitash features a diverse range of runs catering to riders of all skill levels, from gentle slopes perfect for beginners to challenging black diamond trails that will test even the most seasoned riders. With a total of 67 trails, there's always something new to explore and conquer at Attitash Mountain.

Trail Map

Attitash Peak

Attitash Peak, where snowboarding dreams come to life! During my recent visit, only the Top Notch Double and Summit Triple lifts were open, but they provided access to some of the most thrilling terrain imaginable.

The black diamond runs were a wild ride, with recent snowfall leaving them ungroomed and delightfully bumpy. Navigating these challenging trails tested my skills and provided an adrenaline rush like no other. On the other hand, the blue runs were beautifully groomed, offering a smooth and enjoyable cruise down the mountain.

What amazed me most were the long runs that seemed to stretch on forever, allowing ample time to soak in the stunning scenery and fully immerse myself in the snowboarding experience. And with minimal lift lines, I was able to maximize my time on the slopes, indulging in run after run without interruption.

Did you know that Attitash Mountain Resort is a sister mountain to Wildcat Mountain? These two iconic destinations in the White Mountains of New Hampshire share a bond that extends beyond their breathtaking scenery and thrilling slopes. As sister mountains, they offer a complementary experience for snowboarders and skiers alike, providing diverse terrain and unforgettable adventures amidst the beauty of New England's winter wonderland. Bear Peak

Welcome to Bear Peak, a tranquil oasis nestled within Attitash Mountain Resort! Here, you'll discover a haven of snowboarding delights, accessed by two lifts: the Abernaki Quad and the Flying Bear Quad. When transitioning from Attitash Peak to Bear Peak, opting for the Abernaki Quad ensures a smoother journey, sparing you a lengthy skate to the Flying Bear Quad. Amidst the snowy slopes of Bear Peak lies the inviting Bear Peak Lodge. This cozy retreat beckons riders to unwind beside its crackling fireplace or indulge in delicious fare and refreshing beverages, providing a welcome respite from the exhilarating action on the mountain.

Despite boasting fewer trails, Bear Peak's allure lies in its serene atmosphere, offering a refreshing break from the crowds often found on Attitash Peak. Here, you'll find black runs that are surprisingly smooth and blue trails adorned with thrilling rolling sections, promising an unforgettable ride for riders of all levels. However, it's worth noting that the return journey to Attitash involves a fair amount of skating, which can be a minor inconvenience after a day of shredding.

Nevertheless, with its laid-back vibe, diverse terrain, and cozy lodge, Bear Peak stands as a captivating destination for snowboarders eager to explore the unique offerings of Attitash Mountain Resort.

Parking

When it comes to parking at Attitash Mountain Resort, flexibility is key to ensuring a smooth start to your snowboarding adventure. During peak times, like my recent visit, finding a spot in the Attitash lot can be a challenge, but fear not! Despite the lot being full upon my arrival, I managed to secure parking a bit further away. At Bear Peak, however, convenience reigns supreme. Here, you can park and walk directly to the lift, eliminating the need for any additional steps like navigating underpasses. It's the hassle-free option for getting straight to the slopes and maximizing your time on the mountain.

Restaurants

Tuckerman's Restaurant & Tavern

Tuckerman's Restaurant & Tavern in Intervale, NH, provided a cozy and vibrant atmosphere for a casual evening out. Robby and I opted to share some appetizers at the bar, including nachos, salad, local NH beer, and wings. While the nachos and salad were satisfying, and the local beer hit the spot, we found the wings to be a bit lacking compared to our expectations. Despite the busy crowd and inability to snag a table, we enjoyed sitting at the bar, where we could catch up and watch some March Madness games. Overall, Tuckerman's offered a pleasant dining experience, though next time, I might explore different menu options.
