New Hampshire, Wildcat
Located in the heart of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, Wildcat Mountain Ski Resort stands as a testament to the rugged beauty and exhilarating terrain of the region. With its breathtaking views of Mount Washington and over 225 acres of skiable terrain, Wildcat offers an unforgettable alpine experience. Boasting a total of 48 trails and 5 lifts catering to skiers and snowboarders of all levels. From gentle cruisers to challenging steeps, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
The first weekend of April this year was nothing short of legendary, as the snow gods blessed the mountain with a staggering 25 inches of fresh powder. This unexpected bounty transformed Wildcat into a winter wonderland, beckoning enthusiasts from far and wide to revel in its pristine slopes.
Joined by my longtime snowboarding buddy Robby, with whom I first strapped into a board six years ago, we carved our way through the powder-drenched trails, savoring every moment of the pow day bliss. Later in the afternoon, our group expanded as Warren joined us for some spirited spring riding.
As if the weekend couldn't get any better, Saturday night saw another 3 inches of snowfall, ensuring that Sunday's adventures would be just as exhilarating. With fresh powder on the ungroomed trails and even along the edges of the meticulously groomed runs, every turn felt like a dance with gravity and nature.
As the afternoon sun emerged, casting its golden glow upon the mountain, the atmosphere shifted to that of springtime bliss. Gliding effortlessly through softened snow, we basked in the warmth of the sun and the joy of being in the mountains, cherishing every fleeting moment of the season.

Accommodation
The Glen House
My stay at The Glen House Hotel, just minutes from Wildcat Mountain, offered a cozy retreat with its inviting bar and restaurant, promising even more allure in the summer months. However, as a snowboarder, I found the absence of a hot tub or sauna disappointing, with the small pool often crowded. Nonetheless, the comfortable beds and clean rooms provided a welcome respite after days of adventure on the slopes.
Overall, The Glen House Hotel serves as a pleasant basecamp near Wildcat Mountain, despite lacking some winter-specific amenities. Its charm and comfort make it a suitable choice for those seeking a convenient and cozy getaway in the White Mountains.
